KIND Community Chess Club is a welcoming, community-centered program where children and adults can learn chess, build skills, enjoy friendly games, and connect with other local families. Beginners are welcome—no previous chess experience required.

When: 10 Tuesdays between September 1 and December 1, 2026
Time: 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Location: Heart Encounters School Building (former Tyrone Elementary School)
Recommended Ages: 6+, with younger and older participants welcome
Registration: Not Required
Drop-ins: Welcome when space is available
5:30–6:30 p.m. — Chess Club
Short lessons, beginner instruction, puzzles, guided practice, friendly matches, strategy, and plenty of time to play.
6:30–7:00 p.m. — Optional Open Play
Stay for casual games, puzzles, family chess, and social time—or leave at 6:30.
Players will be grouped informally by experience, from those learning the game to more experienced players ready for strategy and challenge play.
Supervision
Ages 5–7: Parent or responsible adult must remain in the chess room.
Ages 8–9: Parent or responsible adult must remain onsite.
Ages 10+: Drop-off is permitted with completed registration and emergency information.
Chess Club is designed to be encouraging, educational, and fun. Participants are expected to demonstrate kindness, respect, good sportsmanship, and care for the club space and materials.
The goal isn’t simply to win—it’s to learn, think, practice, and grow together.
The season may conclude with an optional, just-for-fun chess tournament or celebration.
